活動詳情 About The Event

We are pleased to invite Malaysian teachers Tuck Loon & Lai Fun of Clove&Clive (www.clovenclive.com) to come and lead a 5-day Chinese New Year retreat from Feb 6 - Feb 10 2016. Following up from the popular retreat led by Sayadaw Tejaniya this April 2015, both have been students of Tejaniya since 2002 and offers mindfulness+wisdom as a tool to help point meditators toward direct realisation by exploring present moment experience. Participants will be guided through the meditative sittings, which are spaced out in between Q&A after the sitting to invite participants to explore their experience. Lighthearted and explanatory, Tuck Loon and Lai Fun will offer a lot of Right Information/Right View for yogis to meditate wisely in the spirit of Satipatthana.

This retreat is suitable for both experienced and beginner practitioners who have some basic understanding about meditation.

About awareness+wisdom

Based on the Buddha's teaching on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Satipatthana Sutta), the meditator uses mental phenomena as a primary object in their practice to cultivate understanding of how the mind works. With emphasis on Right View together with continuous awareness, the meditator goes beyond simple awareness of phenomena at the six sense doors to calmly observe and understand both wholesome and unwholesome mind states inherent in every moment of experience. About the Teachers

Hor Tuck Loon has been guiding meditation for the past 30 years, drawing parallels from many ancient wisdom teachings and also from his years of experience in the journey of Insight Meditation. Tuck Loon offers a contemporary approach to meditation through various courses, workshops and weekend retreats. His unique style of pointing and sharing provokes reflection and discussion. Using mindfulness+wisdom as a tool, he skilfully guides participants into understanding how recognising the mechanics of the mind brings about freedom and happiness.

Tuck Loon is the co-founder of Clove&Clive. He has benefit much from his first meeting with Sayadaw U Tejaniya in 2002 and has since does retreat with him in Myanmar nearly annually. Before that he was practising under the Mahasi Sayadaw’s tradition.

He has assisted Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn, in compiling two books entitled “Letting Everything Become Your Teacher” and “Arriving At Your Own Door”. Tuck Loon has written a small compilation entitled “Love Wisdom” and several articles for community distribution. He also writes regularly on his blog at www.illusiontoreality.com.

Chan Lai Fun has been questioning the meaning of life since her earlier childhood days, and this has somehow attracted her into exploring the many meditation retreats and workshops beginning 1984. Her first encounter with Sayadaw U Tejaniya in 2002 made a profound shift in how she viewed meditation and since then it has seen her meditating with Sayadaw yearly.  Prior to that, she was an ardent practitioner of the Mahasi Sayadaw’s tradition.

Her structured style of sharing mindfulness techniques brings about deep clarity and understanding to participants as testified from the numerous courses conducted since mid-90s. Working with mindfulness+wisdom, her courses centers around developing a purposeful spiritual life.
