Sutta Study (English/Pali) with Visu Teoh
Every other Tuesday 8 - 9.30pm
beginning 1st December 2020
This is an opportunity to plumb the depths of the Buddha’s teachings from its very source - the discourses or suttas that he gave to his disciples during his lifetime. Listen directly to these teachings in the Buddha’s original language, Pali, translated into English, to be learned, explored and discussed together.
We will be looking into the thought-world of the Buddha - how he views the world; the question of rebirth and suffering; the law of kamma (action and results); Nibbāna - the ultimate goal of the spiritual life; the concept of non-self (anatta); how we can apply the teachings in our everyday life and make it work for us, etc., etc. There is so much to study and explore. Come, join us on this exciting journey!
We are delighted to have Visu Teoh, who many of you will know from his years of involvement with HKIMS, lead us in this group. Visu will take us by the hand through the suttas and give time for questions and discussion. Visu’s enthusiasm for and dedication to the teachings will certainly inspire and inform our practice!

Guidelines For Online Zoom Meetings
We offer these sessions to provide a space for experienced meditators and beginners to support one another through active participation and sharing. In order to facilitate this, we ask all attendees to adhere to the following guidelines:-
Attend 10mins before the session starts, especially if you are new to the group and / or a beginner - this enables the facilitators to give some orientation and introduction before the session commences
Enable your device camera - this is particularly important if you are relatively new to the group so that we can support and get to know one another better
Update your screen name, so that people know how to refer to you
Attend from an environment that is as peaceful and quiet as possible - this is beneficial both to your practice and experience of the session, as it is for other participants
To help enable an open and safe practice environment for all, the host will ensure: Recording functions within the Zoom platform are disabled for all participants.
