About Thupten Lekshe

Thupten Lekshe (TL) is a clinical psychologist with wide ranging experience in psychiatry, tertiary education and private practice. Alongside his work as a clinical psychologist, TL has been a long-standing student of Tibetan Buddhism. He was ordained as a monk in 2000 and since then has continued making Buddhism and meditation more accessible by bringing a western perspective to Buddhist practice and a more spiritual dimension to therapy. TL provides specialized training for clinicians who teach mindfulness as part of DBT and CFT, and in the treatment of depression using Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). TL trained with Zindel Segal in the US and has co-edited an Australian manual of the MBCT program. TL has completed many retreats in the Tibetan tradition culminating in a one-year solitary meditation retreat in 2006. In the past 10 years TL has led various Buddhist and secular meditation retreats in Melbourne and across Australia.
